The Boxwork system by Matsu — designed by Joeri Reynaert — is a multifunctional architectural furniture piece that seamlessly combines visual privacy, acoustic performance, and integrated lighting into a single elegant solution. It is conceived for contemporary work and living environments that demand flexibility, comfort, and aesthetic refinement.

The integrated rechargeable battery system provides up to 12 hours of cordless operation, allowing you to work completely independently of any power source.

Boxwork features a felt acoustic panel that doubles as a privacy screen, effectively reducing ambient noise and creating defined spatial zones without compromising openness. The felt surface is meticulously engineered to absorb sound, enhancing concentration and comfort in open-plan offices, lounges, meeting areas, or residential interiors — all while adding a sculptural presence.

Visual privacy, acoustic performance and integrated light, combined in one architectural piece.

Included as part of the standard configuration is a rechargeable LED lamp, mounted within the panel structure to deliver soft, ambient illumination ideal for workspaces, collaborative areas, or relaxed lounge settings. The lighting element enhances atmosphere and task visibility without intrusive wiring or fixtures.

Crafted with a lightweight yet robust construction, Boxwork is adaptable in situ and designed to work alongside active lifestyles and evolving spatial needs. Its modular form and material language reflect Reynaert’s refined design ethos — balancing functionality, acoustic performance, and visual harmony in a single, integrated object.

Designer

Joeri Reynaert, the Belgian designer behind the Nomadic Collection, runs his own design studio and teaches design at several universities. Before founding his agency, he worked as an in-house product developer for renowned European brands, including Extremis in Belgium and Foscarini in Italy.

His approach — rooted in user-centred innovation, material authenticity and cultural sensitivity — shapes the Nomadic Collection: traditional weaving and tanning techniques, developed together with Tibetan artisans, translated into calm, contemporary forms.

Care

Care

Every MATSU piece is made from carefully selected materials. With a little regular care it will keep its character for many years. If you have any questions, our team is happy to advise.

Kvadrat and Gabriel fabrics

Vacuum regularly with an upholstery attachment. Treat stains by dabbing with a mild soap or upholstery-shampoo solution, working from the outside in, then blot dry and leave to air-dry. Test any cleaner on a hidden area first; avoid steam cleaning, soaking and harsh chemicals. For heavily used pieces, we recommend an annual professional clean.
