Premium Materials

The Nomad Skin Lounge Chair is crafted with yak hair and yak leather, renowned for their durability, natural resilience, and unique texture. Traditionally used to create black tents for nomadic herdsmen, yak hair is hand-cut using eco-friendly techniques to preserve its integrity and avoid water pollution from chemical processes. This innovative approach reimagines a time-honored material for contemporary furniture design, ensuring a luxurious aesthetic and long-lasting quality.

Sustainable Craftsmanship

In partnership with Tibetan farmers, the Nomad Skin Lounge Chair upholds fair trade practices and supports sustainable livelihoods. Each chair is meticulously hand-woven, celebrating traditional craftsmanship while embracing modern design principles. By choosing this chair, you’re supporting local communities and helping preserve cultural heritage, making it a meaningful addition to your home or workspace.

    Designer

Joeri Reynaert, the Belgian designer behind the Nomadic Collection, runs his own design studio and teaches design at several universities. Before founding his agency, he worked as an in-house product developer for renowned European brands, including Extremis in Belgium and Foscarini in Italy.

His approach — rooted in user-centred innovation, material authenticity and cultural sensitivity — shapes the Nomadic Collection: traditional weaving and tanning techniques, developed together with Tibetan artisans, translated into calm, contemporary forms.

    Care

    Care

Every MATSU piece is made from carefully selected materials. With a little regular care it will keep its character for many years. If you have any questions, our team is happy to advise.

    Yak leather

Dust weekly with a soft, dry cloth. For deeper cleaning, use a cloth lightly moistened with mild soapy water, wipe in circular motions and dry immediately. Avoid harsh cleaning agents and direct sunlight. Condition every three to six months with a suitable leather balm.

    Kvadrat and Gabriel fabrics

Vacuum regularly with an upholstery attachment. Treat stains by dabbing with a mild soap or upholstery-shampoo solution, working from the outside in, then blot dry and leave to air-dry. Test any cleaner on a hidden area first; avoid steam cleaning, soaking and harsh chemicals. For heavily used pieces, we recommend an annual professional clean.
